I have been fortunate to live in Coral Gables since coming to South Florida from the Midwest nearly 24 years ago. We are so fortunate here in South Florida to have sunshine nearly every day of the year. It makes one’s outlook on life so much more positive. We sometimes forget just how lucky we are to live where everyone else in the world wants to be! I have been involved in real estate as an investor and then as a sales agent since the mid 1980’s. In other words, I practice what I preach! I think investing in real estate is the wisest choice we can make to watch our money grow and create a nest-egg for the future. Sure the market has its ups and downs. All investment products do. But real estate will always be here. My first venture was to take a distressed apartment building in a transitional neighborhood in Chicago and begin to make improvements little by little. Soon, the other property owners in the neighborhood were taking notice and fixing up as well. In a short five years, I was able to sell and use my hefty capital gains in a 1031 exchange on a larger property with a substantial cash flow. In Coral Gables, I took an abandoned, boarded up neighborhood eyesore, and with the help and sweat equity of my partner, have restored it to a proud 1930’s Old Spanish gem included among the Historically Designated homes of Coral Gables. We could see the architectural uniqueness and quality of this home that had originally been designed and built for a Northern industrialist and his family. I live and breathe real estate. I feel fortunate to be able to make my living in this field. And I hope that I can encourage others to catch my enthusiasm!
