Hena M. Aguirre is the Company’s Chief Financial Officer. She is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting.
Hena began her career with Arthur Andersen in Miami, in the audit division, and later served as the controller for an international tour operator with offices in Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, and Europe. Following that experience, she worked for a local CPA firm for five years managing the firm’s accounting services division. In 1997, Hena joined McClain & Company, CPA, one of Miami’s oldest CPA firms. She began as a senior accountant and was promoted to principal within five years, becoming the second female partner in the history of the firm. In September of 2003, she was hired as Chief Financial Officer for EWM—one of her former clients— after the company was acquired by HomeServices of America. Hena oversees all financial aspects of the Company and works closely with the President/CEO and senior management team in developing the company’s long-term growth strategy and business plan. She leads and participates in numerous HomeServices' leadership conferences and initiatives.
Hena boasts extensive experience in the field of public accounting, where she has developed expertise in the specialized areas of real estate, mortgage banking, title insurance, SEC reporting, insurance, property management, financial institutions, employee benefit plans, manufacturing, and mergers and acquisitions. Hena is also a member of the American and Florida Institutes of CPAs.
Hena participates and supports EWM’s widespread community events. She is personally involved with Youth vs. Hunger, Million Meal Pack, and Habitat for Humanity. She has also served as a classroom parent, school volunteer and PTSA member for Coral Gables Preparatory Academy since 2008. She is a lifetime member of the FIU Alumni Association and past member of the Nicaraguan-American Chamber of Commerce and Miami City Club and past nominee of the Daily Business Review CFO of the Year Award.
Hena was born in Nicaragua and has lived in Miami since 1979.
