Rick’s passion for Real Estate, Architecture, Interior Design, and Sculpture has been a big influence in his life. Born in New Jersey and after graduating from Fairleigh Dickenson University with a B.A. degree in fine arts, he moved to Washington D.C.
His four-year residency proved to be an invaluable education and set the foundation for his career choices. Working as a laborer on a restoration project in Georgetown excited Rick about the building process. His exposure to the rich, historic architecture of Washington DC helped in his appreciation of architecture throughout the ages -- from classical to contemporary. Rick taught art history and started the first studio art program at Archbishop John Carroll High School. After leaving John Carroll High School, he was accepted as an apprentice stone carver at The Washington National Cathedral. After completing his apprenticeship at the Cathedral, he moved to Carrara, Italy to continue his training and explore his talents as a sculptor.
Upon his return from Italy, he moved to Olde City Philadelphia were he purchased a historical cast iron façade warehouse. He restored and converted the warehouse into loft-style apartments with artist studio space. He was represented by Gross McCleaf Gallery where he had his first one-man show.
New York City
After finishing his studies at The Fashion Institute of Technology, he established his Interior Design Studio in New York City. Rick has over 25 years of experience in historic restorations, renovations and interior design. His work has been profiled in many publications. He restored his personal residence a 1920’ s Dutch Colonial at Bellport, Long Island as well as his upper west side apartment.
