After years as an entreprenuer, business executive and community leader, I am thrilled to be able to offer you my expertise to serve your real estate needs. I pledge to give you personalized attention and my best effort to fulfill your real estate requirements.
I have been a resident of Florida since 1959 and I have lived in Miami-Dade County since 1970. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish from St. Mary's Dominican College in New Orleans, Louisiana and a Master's of Arts degree in Spanish Literature from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. I moved to Miami to attend the University of Miami in the doctoral program in Spanish Literature. After 2 years of attending UM and taking all the required courses, I started teaching full time at Miami-Dade College. I taught English as a Second Language and Spanish at the Wolfson Campus for 15 years. At that time, I also served as Faculty Senate President for several terms. In 1985 I became Associate Dean of the Interamerican Center, the highest administrator of the Center reporting to the Academic Dean at the Wolfson Campus. In 1989, I moved with my family to McLean, Virginia where we lived until 1992. In Virginia, I taught Spanish in Annandale High School for 2 years. When we relocated to Miami, my husband, Tony Villamil, and I started an economics consulting firm, The Washington Economics Group, Inc. based in Coral Gables, Florida. As co-owner of the firm, I run the administrative side of the business and market our services.
I am active in the community. I served as a Director of the American Red Cross of Greater Miami and the Keys. At the Red Cross, I chair the Latin American and Caribbean Leadership Committee and the South Florida Humanitarian Network for Cuba. The Governor of Florida appointed me to the Third District Court of Appeals Judicial Nominating Commission where I have served since 2003 and the Governor just appointed me to the District Board of Trustees of Miami-Dade College to a 3-year term. Sen. Mel Martinez also appointed me for a 2 year to serve in the Academies Nominating Commission which recommends to the Senator candidates to attend the Military Academies.
